Ruth Green, 86, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Ruth M. Green, 86, of Fairfield, died on Monday, Feb. 9.

Born in Berlin, Germany, to Emanuel and Mila (Haber) Moor, she came with her family to Bridgeport in 1940.

She was a lifelong resident of the greater Bridgeport area, and attended Central High School, the University of Connecticut and Sacred Heart University.

She was involved in many civic, political and community organizations over the years. Her work on behalf of the School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport and as a tutor at John Winthrop School especially brought her great joy. She was also a dedicated member of Congregation B'nai Israel.

She is survived by her children: Barbara Green Orell and her husband, Jeffrey; Joel Z. Green and his wife, Erica; Judy Green Blumenthal and her husband, Michael; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; her brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Nancy Green.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, and her sister and brother-in-law, Ingrid and Kurt Loebel.

A funeral service will be held  on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at Congregation B'nai Israel, 2710 Park Ave., Bridgeport.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Bernard and Ruth Green Fund at the Kennedy Center Inc. of Trumbull, Congregation B'nai Israel and the School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport.
