Sara Alice Ray, 88, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sara Alice Ray, of Fairfield, died Sunday, March 3. She was 88.

Ray was born in Lebanon, Ky., daughter of William and Martha Ray. She had been a Fairfield resident since 2004. A former member of a religious order, Ray belonged to the Monastery of St. Clare in Memphis, Tenn., during the 1960s. She also worked as a medical technologist for the American Red Cross in Nashville, Tenn. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Ray is survived by her sister, Dorothy Damiano of Shelton; a brother, James Edward Ray of Bedford, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three siblings, Vivian Williams, William Ray and Mary Workman.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 S. Benson Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 7, at noon at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield. Interment will be private.
