Stanley Gregory Scott, 89, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Stanley Gregory Scott, 89, died Sunday, May 3.

He was born Oct. 28, 1925, in Stratford, the ninth child of James and Anna Scott. The family moved to Fairfield to be near the beach. Scott attended Sherman School and graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in 1943. He then entered the U.S. Navy. Upon leaving the Navy, he trained at Bullard-Haven Technical School to learn the machine tool trade. He was in the tool-and-die trade for many years. He finished his active work life and retired after working for the State of Connecticut. He spent the rest of his life as a pro-life activist counselor. He did this three or four days a week, traveling from New Haven to Stamford with many stops in between.

In addition to his volunteering, he was the primary caregiver for his aging mother, who died at 94.

Scott is survived by his sisters, Millicent Reynolds and Sylvia Terifay, both of Redlands, California, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bridgeport. The Rosary will be said at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Fairfield.
