Stefan Novotny, 30, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Stefan Novotny, 30, died Wednesday, April 22.

Born in New York City March 18, 1985, the son of Kathy (Katie) Acker Novotny and Wolfgang August Novotny, he was a beloved son, brother, nephew and friend. Novotny was an original and deeply creative artist who was just coming into his own when his life was cut short.

He graduated from Fairfield Warde High School in 2003 and Paier College of Art in Hamden in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He worked at Giant Steps School for the Neurologically Impaired in Southport for a number of years.

Survivors include his parents; his brother, Phillip; his sister, Lea; his partner, Andrea Pane; an aunt in Savannah, Ga.; an aunt and uncle in Vienna, Austria; a cousin and his wife in Vienna, Austria; and many cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents; a great-grandfather; and an uncle.

A service celebrating Novotny’s life will be held Saturday, May 2, at 11:30 a.m. at the Audubon Society, 2325 Burr St., Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a tax-deductible donation be made to the Stefan Novotny Fund for Aspiring Artists at Beechwood Arts in Westport. Donations can also be made here.
