He was born April 29, 1948, in Bridgeport, to the late Edith and Leonard Launer.

Launer lived in Fairfield most of his life, graduating from Andrew Warde High School in 1966.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the Environmental School of Science and Forestry at Syracuse University in 1971.

One of his proudest professional accomplishments was a two-year project designing Battery Park in New York City, which once was home to the Twin Towers.

He spent the final years of his career as lead landscape architect with Ceci Brothers in Greenwich.

Survivors include his wife, Merryl Lisbeth Kohn; one son, Josh (Oksana); one daughter, Lindsay (Chris) Gale; one brother, Michael; one sister, Judy; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

One brother, Joel, preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A reception will immediately follow at the Gaelic American Club, 74 Beach Road, Fairfield, directly behind Lesko & Polke Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition.
