EASTON, Conn. - Thomas David Monks of Easton died Oct. 23. He was 76.
Monks was born July 8, 1937, son of Joseph and Catherine (Casey) Monks. He was raised in the North End of Bridgeport, and moved to Easton 28 years ago. He attended St. Joseph grade school and was a 1955 graduate of the Fairfield College Preparatory School. He graduated from Fairfield University in 1959 and received his Master's degree from Fordham University in 1961. He was a supervisor for McKesson Laboratories (later MK Labs) of Fairfield in their research and development department. He went on to serve as a health inspector for the towns of Monroe and Trumbull, and retired in 2009. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Latin Scholars.
Monks is survived by his wife, Grace Tvardzik Monks; sons, Attorney Thomas Monks (Susan) of Trumbull; John Monks, CPA (Patricia) of Terryville and Darrell Monks of Easton; seven grandchildren; many nephews and a niece; sister-in-law, Joan Laspergato of Westport; and brother-in-law, John Brent of Bethany. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Jeffrey; brothers, Joseph Monks and Edward Monks; and his sister Eileen Moylan.
Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will take place Saturday, Oct. 26 at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in Saints Cyril and Methodius Church, 79 Church St., Bridgeport. Interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
