William John Sapone, 61, Of Southport, Attorney And Community Volunteer

SOUTHPORT, Conn. – William John Sapone, 61, a longtime Southport resident, died Wednesday, April 15.

He was a son of John and Domenica Calabro Sapone of Waterbury.

Sapone earned a law degree from Pace University. He was a partner in the Ware, Fressola, Maguire & Barber law firm.

He was chairman of the Fairfield Woods Building Committee, and volunteered for many other community boards including the Democratic Town Committee and the Penfield Beach Pavilion Committee.

He was also a member of the Greater Bridgeport Bar, the Connecticut Patent Bar Association, and the Saugatuck Rowing Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Guerrera; two sons, Max Guerrera-Sapone and James Guerrera-Sapone; two brothers, Anthony Sapone and Thomas Sapone, both of Waterbury; one sister, Linda (David) Interlande of Southington; and one brother-in-law, William "Bill" Guerrera, of Newton, Mass.

Funeral services will be private.

Lesko & Polske Funeral Home, Fairfield, is handling the arrangements.
