William L. Barrett Sr., 91, Of Fairfield, Retired Tool And Die Maker

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - William L. Barrett Sr. of Fairfield died Saturday, March 1. He was 91.

Barrett was born Aug., 16, 1922, the son of Peter and Amelia Vogler Barrett. He was a lifelong resident of Fairfield.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 143 in Fairfield. He worked as a tool and die maker for Singer Corp., CBS and Philips Medical Systems before his retirement. He was involved with the Fairfield Kiwanis Club and Gaelic-American Club and also served on the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee. He was a member of Holy Family Church, where he served as an usher.

Barrett is survived by his children, Susan Barrett of Fairfield and William Barrett Jr. (Barbara) of Fairfield; two grandsons; sister, Eleanor Scott of Fairfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Wilma; granddaughter, Heather; and sister, Mildred Flanigen.

Calling hours are Wednesday, March. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 6, at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
