Wright Hugus, Jr., 82, Of Fairfield, Owned Good Humor Ice Cream Truck

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Wright Hugus, Jr. of Fairfield died Thursday, June 20.  He was 82.

Hugus was born in Wheeling, W. Va.,  to Wright Hugus, Sr. and Martha (Majesky) Hugus.  He graduated from Duke University and subsequently was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy where he served in the Korean War as a naval intelligence officer and aide to Admiral Wayne Sabin.

In 1959, he graduated from the University of Virginia Law School.  He practiced law throughout the U.S. and abroad with a specialty in sports law and sports management, thus founding Hugus Enterprises in Greenwich.  Following his retirement in 1994, he owned and operated a Good Humor Ice Cream truck and was well known in Fairfield County, serving countless children and adults.

Hugus is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Thomas) Hugus of Weston; children, Stephanie Racz of Dorset, Vt., Christin O’Neill of Stratford and Wright Hugus, III of Denver, Colo.; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25 directly at First Church Congregational in Fairfield.  Interment will follow in the church’s Memorial Garden.
