To the Editor,
I support Cristin McCarthy Vahey’s candidacy to win a seat in the state Assembly and represent Fairfield’s citizens of the 133rd District. I have come to know Cristin from her time as an elected member of the Representative Town Meeting and the Board of Selectmen. She has demonstrated to me that she is a calm, knowledgeable and committed public servant.
She comes to meetings prepared and ready to discuss matters but has also shown the ability to attentively listen and consider differing viewpoints. From her considerable time spent as an elected town official, she is also well versed in the issues facing Fairfield.
In short, Cristin is precisely the kind of candidate for public office who deserves your careful consideration this Nov. 4.
Cristin and I both moved to Fairfield in 2001 and share a commitment to ensuring the town remains a vibrant and attractive community for current and future residents. We also have a common concern for our aging and infirm fellow citizens. As a member of the town’s Human Services Commission, I personally witnessed Cristin’s leadership and time commitment in rallying support for the commission’s successful effort to obtain funding for a much needed new position at the town’s Senior Center.
I also know that as parents of children in the town’s public schools that Cristin and I share the same concerns regarding our education system, which is a pivotal factor for the success of not only our town (Fairfield’s excellent school system was listed as a primary reason for Money Magazine’s recent ranking of the Fairfield as one of America’s best places to live) but also our state.
I urge all voters of the 133rd District, including those not registered but for whom there is still time to get registered and make your voice heard, to vote this November and send Cristin to Hartford. She has the qualifications, skills and experience to make an excellent state representative.
