Fairfield Letter: Cook-Littman Knows How To Get Things Done in Hartford

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Please send letters to fairfield@dailyvoice.com.

To the editor:

I am writing this letter in support of Tara Cook-Littman for state representative because we need Tara’s strong voice in Hartford.

Last year I had an interest in furthering proposed state legislation that was of personal importance to me. That is when one of our State Senators suggested I reach out to Tara Cook-Littman for advice on how to get a bill passed in Hartford.

Tara is known throughout the legislature for her advocacy and leadership skills as she was the driving force behind the grassroots movement that passed Connecticut’s Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) labeling law, which was the first in the nation of its kind.

Although the bill was not expected to pass, under Tara’s leadership and through her negotiation skills, the bill passed unanimously in the Senate and with overwhelming support in the House. This success is attributed to Tara’s bipartisan focus and her conviction that if enough people care about an issue they can make a difference.

I saw firsthand the uphill battle it takes to effect change and believe it takes a special kind of person like Tara who is interested in not only being the voice of many people but also capable in getting everyone in Hartford to listen. She is smart, motivated, tenacious, and her advocacy skills (learned during her time as a New York City prosecutor) makes her the obvious choice to organize, lead, and speak on behalf of the people. That GMO labeling law stands as solid proof of Tara’s abilities.
