To the editor:
As a member of FPLAN, a Fairfield-based organization dedicated to ensuring environmental protection and oversight for our town’s land, marshes, open space and waters, I would like to thank our state Rep. Brenda Kupchick for her strong advocacy when it came to the long-awaited Excide cleanup and Mill River lead remediation.
I am grateful for her commitment as Brenda helped to lead efforts to ensure our state officials required a better cleanup and more input from our town and better access to detailed information.
The cleanup project has commenced, and we have seen more transparency and responsiveness from both the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Excide to Fairfield residents as a result of the efforts.
We will all benefit as will future generations from this joint town-state-citizen cooperation in which Brenda played an important role.
