To the editor: For me, there is no better choice to represent us in Hartford as State Representative for the 133rd district than Cristin McCarthy Vahey.
It has been an honor getting to know Cristin, and a privilege to work on her campaign. She has been a wonderful mentor, both encouraging and inspiring me to run for the Representative Town Meeting.
Watching Cristin has been an extraordinary education in public and community service, observing the many ways she has worked to improve our town and the quality of life that has just earned Fairfield a spot on the list of 50 best places to live in the U.S. Cristin brings proven experience and successes in almost every area of public service.
From her background as a social worker, to her leadership role on the RTM, to her current position on the Board of Selectmen, Cristin is prepared to tackle any challenge while making tough decisions on the issues that affect all of us.
For Cristin, it is equally important to know her constituents as well as she knows the issues. Cristin is both smart and down to earth, fair but tough when fighting for what she believes in, analytical and thoughtful in all she does, and honest to a fault. She is above reproach when it comes to working in a bipartisan fashion, and has earned the respect of her colleagues and the trust of her constituents.
Getting to know Cristin's family and the children she is raising is to understand her principals and her devotion. I can't think of one reason you should not join me in coming out to vote for Cristin on Nov. 4. Please encourage your 133rd District friends and neighbors to do the same. While her day-to-day leadership will be greatly missed in Fairfield, It is time to share this amazing woman with the rest of Connecticut. Elizabeth Zezima
