To the editor:
This is the official statement of Tara Cook-Littman in response to false accusations on vaccination issue:
I am deeply disappointed that this race for State Representative appears to be headed for the gutter with baseless, negative attacks from partisan surrogates. I am particularly surprised at my opponent, Ms. Devlin, whose silence speaks volumes.
These false accusations were first made against me over two weeks ago and I have yet to see a response from her on this issue. We can only assume that she must support these dirty campaign tactics.
I was interviewed as a national leader of the GMO labeling movement - a movement that I am proud of and that has the support of 94 percent of the American public. If the attack dogs had taken the time to look at the video of the interview [above], they would see for themselves that my role in the film was solely to speak about the successful passage of Connecticut’s GMO Labeling law. I suppose something as inconvenient as the truth would never get in their way.
For the record, I support vaccinations for their obvious public health benefits, and have never said otherwise. I am disgusted that this even needs to be said, but all three of my children are vaccinated and are up to date on all of their vaccines.
This is why I am running for office. I am tired of politicians saying and doing anything they can to get elected. I would never stoop to such baseless partisan attacks. My campaign has been focused on the issues that matter to our community and how Ms. Devlin and I differ.
This type of accusation is exactly what Connecticut families hate about politics as usual - these Republicans are willing to lie, distort, and smear, without evidence and without shame. I trust the voters in Fairfield and Trumbull will send a strong message on Nov. 4 that we reject false negative attacks.
