To The Editor:
I don't live in District 4, but if I did I would vote for Bill Gerber for RTM on November 5. I have known Bill for many years and am impressed by his intelligence and thoughtfulness. Bill is very enthusiastic about Fairfield; he frequently expresses how remarkable our town must be that so many people grow up or come here to attend college and decide to stay. Bill has lived in Fairfield for 17 years and I know that he and his wife plan to live here for the rest of their lives.
Bill is excited about many positive changes to our town over time - for example, our revitalized downtown and the improvements made to some of our school facilities (particularly the reduction of portable classrooms district-wide). However, he also knows that there are many issues that need to be examined in relation to increases in our taxes. Bill believes that a healthy town needs a stable proportion of residents at various stages of their lives, and that it is not a good sign if people move due to taxes after their kids graduate from the public school system.
Bill will work hard to build relationships with members of both parties on the RTM and strive to keep forward momentum from getting bogged down in partisan politics. I encourage all residents of District 4 to vote for Bill Gerber for RTM on November 5 - he will take the responsibility seriously and will represent his constituents fairly.
