To the editor: My name is Ted Hendrie. I have lived in Fairfield for the past 30 years and have been been a registered Democrat for the past 42 years. Never before have I written a letter on behalf of a political candidate. This year, however, I feel compelled to write this letter in support of of Laura Devlin, the Republican candidate for State Representative in the 134th district. I am writing in support of Laura Devlin because I am a parent, and I have watched my children grow and flourish in our town. I have also had the pleasure of coaching, affording me the opportunity to watch their friends and their respective families grow and enjoy everything our community has to offer. Lately I have become very concerned about the ability of our children, as well as ourselves, to afford life in the state and community which we have helped to build, and which we have grown to love. When you have lived here the majority of your life, raised your children here and contributed both personally and financially, you and your family should have the confidence that you can continue to call Fairfield, and Connecticut, your home. That is how communities of character are built. After examining the positions of the candidates for the 134th district, I believe Laura Devlin is the candidate most concerned about the issues that make Connecticut affordable and attractive to families and businesses alike. She is also the most equipped to tackle them. Laura Devlin is a mother who has raised her children in Fairfield, and is a successful businesswoman. She has experience representing her constituents as a member of the Fairfield RTM and has demonstrated her willingness to ask the hard questions and make responsible and measured decisions. Her business acumen, history of serving her community and willingness to be an independent voice are refreshing and give me hope that both my children and I will enjoy living in Connecticut for many years to come. Laura Devlin’s combination of fiscal accountability and social responsibility make her a clear choice to be our State Representative for the 134th District in Hartford. Ted Hendrie
