To the editor:

As an active member of the Fairfield community for many years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with both State Representative Tony Hwang, and State Representative Brenda Kupchick, including serving alongside Representative Kupchick when she was a member of the Fairfield Board of Education.

During their years of service to Fairfield, both have demonstrated common-sense leadership that’s grounded in fiscal responsibility. They are readily available to their constituents, listening, and learning and above all, taking action for our community.

Due to John McKinney’s retirement from the State Senate, Tony is seeking to fill that vacancy in the 28th Senate district. As a longtime friend and supporter of Senator McKinney, I strongly believe that there’s no better qualified candidate than Tony to succeed John in the State Senate. Tony always seeks to build consensus, works across the aisle and has a strong commitment to make Connecticut a state where people can prosper -- whether it’s starting a business or educating their children.

Similarly, Brenda is a legislator who engages in gathering facts and research before rendering a decision, she puts people ahead of her political party when she votes, and is a strong voice for the 132nd State Assembly District.

While I have worked with both Tony and Brenda over the years in an elected capacity, I also call them my friends. I know they will continue to provide the leadership Fairfield needs up in Hartford. Please vote for Tony Hwang and Brenda Kupchick on Nov. 4.
