To the Editor:
As an independent voter, I am writing in support of the re-election of Michael Herley to District 1 of the RTM.
Over the last several years, I have seen Michael tackle and deal with a myriad of issues facing our town. Many of the issues have town-wide impact and some were important and relevant to just a few residents, or perhaps even one. Michael listens, investigates, and researches the issues. He is open and willing to engage residents in discussions about matters without regard to whether the people who approach him are within his district. Michael is diligent in following through and getting answers to questions and addressing the concerns of all our towns’ residents.
Michael has exhibited sound judgment, compassion and fiscal responsibility. Michael Herley avoids partisan politics, the likes of which seem to bog down the political process of late, and has achieved results. During Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath, Michael walked door-to-door passing out fliers with important post-storm information - fliers he personally paid for out of his own pocket. He checked on our elderly and infirm neighbors and was a regular source of reliable information when reliable information – or any information at all – was hard to come by. This is just one example of Michael’s commitment to a better, safer, fiscally sound and desirable Fairfield.
I urge all voters to put partisan politics aside and vote for someone willing to listen and work long and hard for our community.
