According to the police report, the owner of the storage unit discovered Tuesday, Feb. 24, that their locker had been broken into and rummaged through, police said. The lock used to secure the property had been compromised, police said.

Officers who responded said the lock to the unit had been held together with clear masking tape, and when the owner went to check the lock it fell apart, police said.

The Public Storage property manager told Fairfield Police that the gate, which secures the property, had been “stuck open” for about three months, police said.

The owner said they had last checked the locker during the first week of January and had not returned since, according to police.

Although it was not known exactly what was missing from the unit, the owner was able to provide a list of items they were certain had been taken, police said.

The stolen items included:

  • A Yamaha drum set
  • An older Ludwig drum set
  • A Roland V drum set
  • A Roland V symbol set
  • An Epiphone guitar
  • A Martin D-35 acoustic guitar
  • A Fender acoustic guitar
  • Four Yamaha speakers
  • A TASCAM digital mixing board
  • A Yamaha electric piano
  • An undetermined number of Klipsch studio monitors
  • An undetermined number of amplifiers
  • Marine diving gear items and miscellaneous boating supplies
  • A Raymarine GPS

The owner of the property was given a loss of property form for the remaining inventory that was not immediately able to be claimed as missing.
