The nine children were admitted to the hospital after a bus accident Thursday morning, the spokesman at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport confirmed.

The injuries were minor, and all the students were treated and released, the spokesman said. Children were complaining about neck and back pain, but there were no serious injuries to report, the spokesman said.

The school bus was hit from behind by a car on Kings Highway East while en route to Fairfield Woods Middle School with 22 students on board, the Fairfield Citizen reported.

As the bus stopped shortly before 8 a.m. at Kings Highway East and Chestnut Street to pick up several students, it was rear-ended by a car, driven by a woman believed to be a teacher, police told the Citizen.

The other students continued on to Fairfield Woods on the bus.
