FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Bridgeport man faces a weapon charge after police said they found brass knuckles in his pocket during a traffic stop Friday night in Fairfield.
During the incident Fairfield Police also arrested a man who they said came to help the suspect.
Michael DeCampos, 31, was driving a motorcycle on King Highway when he was stopped for having illegal blue under-lights on the bike, according to the police report. The officer who made the stop reported that DeCampos was acting nervously and reaching for his pocket, police said. A set of brass knuckles was found in his pocket during a pat-down, according to the report.
During the traffic stop police said DeCampos needed some paperwork, which a family member brought him. Police found that the cars passenger, Jason Scott, 32, of Bridgeport, had a pending warrant for his arrest for evading responsibility from Connecticut State Police. He was turned over to state police for processing.
DeCampos was charged with carrying a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor, and issued a motor vehicle infraction for unauthorized color lights. He was released on a promise to appear in court.
