Boy, 12, In Critical Condition After Being Hit By Car In Shelton

SHELTON, Conn. — A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital today, after he was struck by a car while riding his bike Thursday, police said.

The boy, who was not identified, was riding his bicycle at the intersection of Maltby and Gilbert streets around 6:30 p.m. when he was hit, police said.

He was treated at the scene and transferred to the New Haven hospital for serious injuries, police said. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The driver, Monika O’Toole, 34, of Oxford, was not injured and stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.

The Shelton Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating. Any witnesses are asked to contact police at 203-924-1544.
