Bridgeport police arrested Edgar Fontanez-Soto on charges of third-degree burglary and sixth-degree criminal attempted larceny early Friday, police said.

Fontanez-Soto was then transferred to Fairfield Police Department, police said Friday.

The charges were filed after an arrest warrant was executed in an incident that occurred back on Sept. 23.

An Old Field Road resident reported they had found Fontanez-Soto inside their home and in possession of a wallet, purse and other belongings, when he was supposed to be painting the outside of the home, police said.

The suspect, who was working for a exterior home-painting company, was identified by the site manager, police said.

According to police reports, nothing was stolen from the Old Field Road home. Records show the suspect has been arrested in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Florida on previous burglary charges.

Fontanez-Soto, of Bridgeport, was released on $12,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28.
