Bridgeport Man Accused Of Fairfield Car Burglaries

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport man was charged with two burglaries from cars parked in Fairfield early Sunday morning, police say.

A Fairfield resident called police to report he witnessed a man enter his parked car around midnight Sunday. Officers found Joshua Richards, 19, of Bridgeport in the same area not long after, according to police reports. Richards had a GPS unit and spare change that police believe was stolen from a car parked on Lewis Drive that morning, police say.

Richards also was found with a GPS reported stolen from Hughes Street in Bridgeport, not far from the Fairfield incidents, according to police reports.

Richards was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, a felony, and single counts of sixth-degree larceny and attempted sixth-degree larceny, bot misdemeanors. His bond was set at $500, and he is due in court Sept. 13.
