Fairfield officers were called to Euphoria Hookah Lounge on Black Rock Turnpike on Thursday night after employees reported that a man - later identified as Arthur Elliott, 28, of Brooks Street - was causing a disturbance at the establishment, police said.

When officers arrived on the scene, Elliott was drinking Hennessy outside of the hookah lounge with his friends, police said, and was very intoxicated.

Elliott’s friends left when asked by officers, according to police, but Elliott refused to vacate the premises and began to shout obscenities at authorities.

Based on Elliott’s level of intoxication, officers attempted to provide a medical transport to a nearby hospital, police said. However, Elliott refused and instead attempted to activate the camera on his cellphone and tried to provoke the officers, police said.

Elliott was taken to police headquarters where he was charged with interfering with an officer and released on $100 bond. He is due to appear in court on Jan. 27.
