Bridgeport Man Charged With Murder In Stabbing Death On Off-Ramp

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport man was arrested and charged with murder Tuesday in the off-ramp stabbing death of a city man dead last week, according to the newstimes.com.

Anthony Espinal, 36, was to appear in state Superior Court on Wednesday, the newstimes.com said. He was held on $250,000 bond, according to the report.

State police received a call from the Route 8/25 southbound Exit 5 off-ramp about 11:20 p.m. last Thursday. The caller reported that two people had left their cars and were walking toward each other aggressively, according to state police.

Police then received another call from a person in distress, who said he had been in a fight and needed assistance. The line went dead after sounds of a scuffle were heard, state police said.

Another the 911 call was received, and the caller told police that he had made it to the corner of Lindley Street and Capital Avenue, according to the statement from state police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance.

When troopers arrived, they discovered Bryant Kelly, 26, of Bridgeport. He was severely injured and moved to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, state police said.

The medical examiner later determined cause of death to be a stab wound.

Details of the scuffle or what caused it have not been released by authorities.
