After leaving the store, a woman realized that she had lost her cellphone after noticing that her bluetooth wasn’t working in her car, police said. She returned to her original parking spot to find another car parked in the space, police said.

When she approached the vehicle, her car connected to the bluetooth, indicating the cellphone was nearby, police said. After driving away from the vehicle, the bluetooth became staticky, police said.

The woman approached the occupants of the car, police said. After unsuccessful attempts to get her phone back, she called police.

Fairfield Police traced the vehicle’s license plate to Anastacio Morales of 96 Melrose Ave. in Bridgeport. When officers arrived at the residence, Morales denied taking the phone, police said.

Police said that when a police officer called the cellphone, it rang in a vehicle outside the apartment.

Officers recovered the cellphone inside the side door pocket of the car, police said. Morales was arrested and charged with sixth-degree larceny, according to police.

He was released on a promise to appear. His court date is July 14, according to police.
