At around 7:30 p.m. on June 14, someone reported that his bicycle had been stolen from the Saugatuck train station bike rack located on Railroad Place. The victim said he had locked his bike up with a lock.

Detectives reviewed video surveillance footage from that day and saw a white or Hispanic male remove the lock and ride off on the bike, police said. They recognized the man as 56-year-old George Lopez of Bridgeport, who had previously been arrested for the same offense, police said.

Lopez was interviewed but denied stealing the bike, police said. Based on the detectives positively identifying Lopez in the surveillance footage, a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Sept. 19, Westport officers responded to Troop G Bridgeport to pick up Lopez for the active warrant. He was taken back to headquarters, where hew as charged with sixth-degree larceny and held on a $5,000.
