Alpha Jalloh, 24, was arrested Monday at Norwalk Superior Court and charged with second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, and third-degree larceny. He was held on a $100,000 cash only bond and was arraigned the same day.

The arrest stems from a bank robbery that took place at the TD Bank on Post Road East just before 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 2. Police said that the suspect, later identified as Jalloh, had passed a note to a bank employee, telling him that a robbery was taking place and that he had a gun. No weapon was displayed and nobody was injured, and he made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Surveillance video showed that a 2006-2008 Lincoln MKZ or Lincoln Zephyr had entered the parking lot, and left right after the suspect exited the bank, police said.

Detectives learned that the Chase Bank in Darien had been robbed on June 13 by a suspect matching the same description, Detective Sergeant Sereniti Dobson worked with Darien detectives and determined that both robberies were committed by the same person. He was also linked to robberies in Pawtucket, RI, and Waterbury, police said.

Darien police identified the suspect as Jalloh, and said he was believed to have been working with a second male to commit a string of bank robberies. On July 27, the NYPD Fugitive Task Force stopped a Lincoln MKZ driven by Jalloh, and he was taken into custody.

Dobson and Detective Rocke went to New York City and interviewed Jalloh and his passenger, identified as 24-year-old Loang Manpign. Jalloh admitted to the robbery, and Manpign admitted to driving Jalloh to Westport with the intention that Jalloh would commit the robbery and Manpign would drive him back, according to police. Jalloh was extradited back to Connecticut to face charges by Darien police.

Westport police were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Jalloh and charged him with the bank robbery on Monday. Police said that charges for Manpign are pending.
