Original story: BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A car hit a school crossing guard at the intersection of North Avenue and Park Avenue in Bridgeport Tuesday morning, near Geraldine Johnson Elementary School, according to the Connecticut Post.

Police and ambulances were called to the area at around 8:15 a.m. on a report of the pedestrian being hit by a car, the Connecticut Post reported. It was later confirmed that the person hit was a school crossing guard, according to the Connecticut Post.

The condition of the crossing guard was not immediately available Tuesday morning, but the Connecticut Post reported that medics had also been called for the driver of the car involved in the accident. Police were called to direct traffic, and North Avenue was closed while they investigate the accident, according to the Connecticut Post.
