FAIRFIELD, Conn. — An Old Navy customer had some explaining to do Saturday after he walked out of the Black Rock Turnpike store with his purchases— and one of the store’s dog mannequins, Fairfield police said.
Officers were called to the store after the 30-year-old Beach Road man, a known customer to store staff, left with the plastic pooch shortly before 3 p.m.
After finding the man’s credit card information and address in the Old Navy sales system, officers went to his home, where he lives with his parents. Realizing he had been caught, the man turned the fake fur baby over to officers.
Old Navy, which uses a dog mascot, Magic, in its advertising, did not press charges in the canine caper.
