Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at around 7 a.m. on reports of an accident. Engine 5, Rescue 3 and the shift commander arrived on scene to find two cars that had been involved in a T-bone collision, fire officials said. Westport police were already on the scene, providing patient care and traffic control.

Both vehicles were occupied, and the driver of one of the vehicles required extrication to remove from their vehicle, fire officials said. Engine 2 was added to the assignment for extra manpower.

Fire officials said that extrication was completed at around 7:21 a.m. and care for the driver was transferred to Westport EMS. The occupants of the other vehicle were also treated by EMS.
