Easton Man Charged With Threatening Sibling

EASTON, Conn. -- An Easton man was charged with threatening his sibling during an argument over financial matters last week, according to police.

Easton Police received a 911 call on Thursday, July 13 by someone who said they were threatened by 58-year-old Richard McLaughlin. During a conversation about financial matters with his mother, the caller said that McLaughlin became increasingly hostile and threatened to kill his sibling, according to police.

McLaughlin was issued a misdemeanor summons and charged with second-degree threatening. He was given a court date of July 14. Police said that McLaughlin was verbally abusive to officers, claiming that they had discretion not to arrest him and that they "were out to get him." He mentioned several circumstances where he felt he was arrested unjustly, according to police.
