Police were alerted to a front door alarm by the security company working with the Citgo and arrived to see that the door had been forced open with visible pry marks. Shelves were bumped and boxes of cigarettes were on the ground by the registers.

Surveillance footage showed two white men getting out of a grey four-door Audi sudan. One of the men was wearing a black ski mask and gloves.

Roughly 45 minutes after Fairfield police received the call, Trumbull police located the sedan by the Monroe town line engulfed in flames.

Further investigation found that similar incidents have happened in Shelton and Newtown.

Police traced the grey Audi to its owner in Monroe, who last saw the car on Friday.
