The accident occurred at about 11:45 a.m. Monday at the underpass on Mill Plain Road in Fairfield.

The Fairfield Fire Department responded with Engine 1 and Ladder 1 along with Fire Chief Richard Felner, said Assistant Fire Chief Schuyler Sherwood.

Upon arrival, firefighters determined there were no injuries, but the cement truck was in an unstable position, stuck under the bridge with some of its wheels off the ground, Sherwood said.

The fire department, under the direction of incident commander Lt. Roger Caisse, established a safe perimeter around the accident scene and assured there were no immediate hazards. Traffic was diverted while officials worked to clear the truck from the bridge.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority was notified and responded to the scene and determined there were no problems with Metro-North trains.

The Fire Department remained on the scene until the truck had been removed by about 2 p.m. , Sherwood said.
