Fairfield Firefighters Respond To Steam Leak At Fairfield Warde High

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A leaking steam pipe forced the evacuation of Fairfield Warde High School on Tuesday afternoon.

At 11:55 a.m., Fairfield’s Emergency Communication Center received a water flow alarm indicating an activated sprinkler system at Fairfield Warde High School.

Fairfield Fire Companies 2 and 3 responded and when they arrived the building had been evacuated and the alarm was sounding.

A leaking steam pipe was found in a tunnel under the building and students and staff were allowed to return to the building.  

Company 1 and the Fire Department safety officer were called to the scene along with American Medical Response to assist in a confined space entry to identify the leaking pipe.
