Fairfield Homeowners Lose More Than $20K In Jewelry In Burglary

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield police are investigating a burglary at a home on Park Avenue on Monday, March 3, in which more than $20,000 worth of jewelry was reported stolen.

The homeowners, who reported the burglary, said they had been home for most of the day but had left at about 11:30 a.m. to shop at Whole Foods, police said.

According to the police report, the husband and wife who left the home unoccupied, had left the garage bay door unlocked as well as the door leading from the garage to the kitchen.

When they returned to their home, the homeowners discovered the first-floor master bedroom closet had been rummaged through, police said.

Three watches, including one Cartier worth $15,000, were taken, with a total of $17,200 in lost property, police said.

Two rings valued at $2,000 apiece were also taken, according to police.
