Antonio Velez, 53, was arguing with his girlfriend and her son called for help, police said.
Police at the scene said Velez yelled at both the woman and her son and was confrontational with officers.
Officers had been at the home twice the day before and the victim told police that Velez had choked her because she wanted to leave the residence, police said.
Velez was charged with disorderly conduct and held on $2,500, police said. He was scheduled to appear in court on July 25.
