FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield man was arrested Sunday after he threw his 82-year-old father to the floor and struck him several times, police said.
Police said David Guarnieri, 56, of Quincy Street, was trying to help his mother, who was having a medical emergency, and his father did not want him to call 911.
A struggle ensued and, when officers arrived at 7 p.m., they found Guarnieri’s father lying on the floor with blood on his face and arms, police said.
Fairfield firefighters treated both of Guarneri’s parents at the scene, police said.
Police said they noticed the smell of alcohol, but Guarnieri denied he had been drinking. He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for an emergency evaluation, police said.
Guarnieri was charged with breach of peace and was expected to appear in court on Feb. 29, police said.
