Fairfield Man Charged After High-Speed Car Chase

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield man was charged with breaking the windshield of his ex-girlfriend's car and allegedly chasing another person across town at speeds of more than 100 mph, police say.

Kristian Bogacki, 26, of Coral Drive allegedly broke the windshield late Friday night, according to police reports. After the incident, another man, there to help the woman with an unrelated problem, fled the scene. Bogacki allegedly got back in his car and chased the man, police say.

Bogacki allegedly followed the other man from Country Road to the Old Post Road, according to police reports. The other man told police Bogacki traveled faster than 80 mph on local roads, and more than 100 mph on I-95, police say.

Police ended the chase at the intersection of South Benson and Old Post roads and arrested Bogacki. He was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and a breach of the peace, both misdemeanors. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is due in court Sept. 24.
