The 23-year-old man was upset after a homeless man he gave a ride to stole his cellphone, police told the Citizen. The man's father drove him around in an effort to find the thief, but he got out of the vehicle on a dead-end street while his father continued to drive around, the Fairfield Citizen reported.

The man then called his father, accused him of stealing his car and said he had five minutes to return home, police told the Citizen. The man flagged down a police officer on patrol, who followed him home and found evidence that gasoline had been poured around the home, the Fairfield Citizen said.
