Fairfield Man Pleads Guilty To Paying No Income Taxes For 16 Years

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A 51-year-old Fairfield man pleaded guilty to tax evasion over a 16-year period Wednesday, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Deirdre M. Daly said in a press release.

Robert J. Parker, of Fairfield, did not pay any federal income taxes from 1996 to 2012, according to the press release. Between his personal income and the revenue of his IT consulting business, Success Zone, he made about $2 million in taxable income over that time, Daly said. He failed to pay any taxes on his personal income and that of his business.

Parker pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in U.S. District Court before Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven on Wednesday. He will be sentenced in June. He waived his right to indictment in making the guilty plea.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and fines of up to $100,000. Parker is also liable for $2 million in back taxes, fees and penalties dating to 1996, according to the press release.

The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation.
