FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield officers responding to call about someone violating a protective order found a 45-year-old man sleeping in the basement of the Overlook Drive home he was ordered to stay away from, police said.

Officers responded Saturday evening after a caller said her son would not leave the house, police said.

They found Christopher Burr, 45, asleep in the basement of his mother's house, police said.

Burr was arrested March 12 when his mother called police to report she was afraid for her safety after he yelled at her and ripped the phone out of her hands when she attempted to call police, according to the police report. Burr told officers that he had had a pint of vodka and was unable to stand before he was taken to police headquarters, the police report said.

A protective order was issued March 12, which Burr knew but his mother did not, police said. Burr's mother picked him up and took him back to her home to gather his belongings, but he refused to leave, police said.

On Saturday, she contacted officers to request help in making Burr leave, police said.

Burr was charged with violation of a protective order, held on $5,000 bond and taken to court Monday.
