On Oct. 27, police responded to a call for assistance and located Russo at 80 Post Road. Police report that he was cooperative but was distraught and provided "disturbing details" about his intent to harm students at an unspecified elementary school. He told police this was something he had thought of for years and that it was his intent to act on these thoughts one day.

Russo said that he wanted immediate help to stop him from acting on these thoughts.

Based on the interview and other findings, it was determined that Russo posed a significant and potential threat to others and issued an emergency committal, and Russo was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for evaluation.

Police say that there was no threat to the public during the investigation as Russo was in protective custody at St. Vincent's.

The department worked with the school district to notify staff of the threat and that he was currently in custody and being evaluated.

Further investigation found that Russo had made similar threats to others that he wanted to take students hostage and traumatize them.

Police found that they had enough cause to charge Russo with threatening in the first degree and threatening an act of terrorism.

On Nov. 22, officers obtained an arrest warrant and Russo was placed under arrest on Tuesday morning after being released from a medical facility.

Russo is being held on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 26.

No information was available regarding Russo's court appearance at time of reporting.
