Paul Fanciulli, 35, whose last known address is Victory Street in Stratford, waited for his ex-wife outside of her work and shouted obscenities to her from the parking lot as she entered a friend's car, police said.

After leaving the workplace, Fanciulli pulled up to vehicle his ex-wife was in, stopped at a street light in Trumbull and attempted to communicate with her through his window, police said. According to authorities, Fanciulli then blocked the vehicle his ex-wife was traveling in from gaining access to the Merritt Parkway and continued to follow them.

Police said they received a 911 call reporting the incident, at which point Fanciulli’s ex-wife instructed her friend to drive to Fairfield Police Headquarters. Fanciulli was stopped by a patrol car on Post Road, police said.

Fanciulli was charged with second-degree stalking and violation of a protective order. Because of his criminal record - which includes third-degree larceny and third-degree assault - Fanciulli was held on $500,000 bond and is due in court on Feb. 6.
