Fairfield Police: Crying Baby, Passed-Out Woman Found In Locked Car

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Officers called to a crying baby locked in a parked car Friday found a woman who appeared to have taken heroin slumped over in the driver’s seat, police said.

Terri Torres, 25, of Taft Avenue, was charged with possession of narcotics and risk of injury to a minor, police said.

Shortly after 5:15 p.m., passersby noticed the baby in the locked car parked in a handicapped spot in the Stop & Shop parking lot on Villa Avenue, police said.

Officers found Torres passed out in the driver’s seat with heroin and drug paraphernalia in plain view on the seat, police said.

She came to, was arrested and was released on $5,000 bond, police said.

The child was released to a relative and the case was referred to the state Department of Children & Families.

Some details of the case were unavailable Monday morning.
