FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Police are asking for help recovering high-value paintings stolen from a Southport home earlier this year.

The paintings were reported stolen from the estate of the late William Lloyd on Mill Hill Road. The manager in charge of the estate sale told police that “Near the Foot Hills” by Dale William Nichols was stolen from the house on Feb. 27. The painting’s appraised value is $20,000.

A second painting, James Bama’s “Portrait of a Sioux,” was also reported missing. It is unclear whether the thefts occurred at the same time or separately.

Fairfield Police say they have a “strong suspect” but are asking for help gathering more information and recovering the paintings. Anyone with information should contact Detective Jason Takacs at 203-254-4840.
