FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Police officers in Fairfield responded to six car break ins over the weekend in two different areas in town.

Shortly after 2 a.m., Saturday, May 17, police found four cars with smashed windows along the Post Road. The first report came in the area of 90 Post Road when an officer was waved down by a resident who said that one of the windows on her Jeep Liberty had been smashed by an unknown person.

Down the road, the officer found a white van that also had a window broken.

A short time later police received a call that the rear passenger window to a car parked in the lot at the Geronimo Tequila Bar and Southwest Grill on the Post Road, had been broken and a grey purse with $300 in cash and credit cards had been taken. Police were told that the damage to the window would be approximately $200.

The officer found a 2009 Honda in the Geronimo lot that also had the front passenger side window shattered.

Police say that an additional two cars reported that windows were shattered at Vinny's Ale House on the Post Road.

Sunday morning, police say that a resident on Philemon Street reported that an unlocked car parked on the street in front of the house had been rummaged through overnight. The resident stated that a $130 bike headlamp had been taken from the car.
