Fairfield Police: Man Threw Girlfriend's TVs Into Marsh, Smashed Furniture

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Newtown man was charged with throwing two of his girlfriend's televisions into a marsh and smashing her furniture after an argument with her, Fairfield police said.

Fairfield officers responded to the home on Riverside Drive after receiving a call from a third party early Sunday, police said.

When officers arrived, the resident told them that her boyfriend, Kenneth King, 53, had done significant damage to her house after an argument at a bar, police said.

Two televisions from the house had been thrown off the deck into a nearby marsh, and officers found furniture broken at the top of the staircase, the police report said. The living room had electric equipment on the floor, and a TV was missing, police said.

The woman told officers that she and King had argued before he left a bar, police said. She had been unable to contact police because her cellphone was in the trunk of King's car, police said. King left the scene before officers arrived, police said.

She had visible bruising on her body and other injuries, police said.

Officers reached out to King and asked that he contact them. King turned himself in and was charged with disorderly conduct. He released on $500 bond and was due in court Monday Dec. 9. No information was available regarding the outcome of his hearing.
