At about 8 p.m., an 85-year-old woman reported that her purse had been stolen while at the Walgreens on Villa Avenue, police said. She told police that she had placed her purse in the top portion of the shopping cart and noticed it was missing about 20 minutes later when she went to check out.

Video surveillance showed two suspects entered the store, neither of whom made a purchase, police said. One was seen leaving the store quickly with something held close to his chest, police said.

The first suspect is described as a white male, with a thin black beard and goatee, and wearing a white baseball cap with an unidentified logo, blue and white New England Patriots jacket, white and black scarf, and blue jeans, police said.

He was last seen running from the front doors of Walgreens and across the parking lot, where he entered a vehicle, police said.

An officer helped the victim contact her credit card companies to report them stolen and to inquire about possible fraudulent activity, police said. They learned that one card had been used at the Walmart on Barnum Avenue in Stratford, police said.

The victim’s stolen card was used to purchase an Element 32-inch flat-panel television, for $210.57, police said.

The second suspect is described as a black male and wearing a white knit hat, long black jacket with a plaid shirt.

The two suspects left in a red or maroon vehicle with a missing rear passenger side hub cap exposing a black rim on the passenger side, police said.
